JEFFREY SCOTT BROWN (Waabishki-giiwedinowinini)

With great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Jeffrey Scott Brown on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018 at his residence in Rainy River First Nations, Ont.

Jeff was born on Sept 17, 1973 to Wallace Wilson Sr. and Lucy Brown (nee Hunter).

Jeff is survived by his wife, Tracy Nielson (Pat), and his children, Taylor (Oscar), Jaxon (Katelyn) Hunter, Logan, and Ryder; and with two grandchildren, Julian and Nakai.

He also is survived by his siblings, Shawn Brown (Genny), Keith Wilson, Terry Wilson (Lisette), Roger Green (Trish), Wally Wilson Jr. (Denise), Gerry Hunter (Tanya), Ernest Brown, Alton Brown, and Sherry Wilson (Bob); aunts, Lorraine C., Sara H., Irene H., Agnes G. (Gil), Gloria, and Doreen; and uncles, Raymond Wilson and Al Wilson (Bev), Bert Hunter, Al Hunter, Bob Hunter (Suzie), Joe Hunter, and Art Hunter (Mel); many nephews and nieces that he loved a lot and tried to make time for each and every one of them; and his lifelong best friends, Vince and Vance Allan.

Jeff was predeceased by his parents, Wallace and Lucy; siblings, Sharon, Sheila, Albert, and Bruce; and many more family members.

Jeff's children, nieces, and nephews were his world. He adored doing numerous activities, hugs, and laughs with them. He was a proud traditional shkaabe for several ceremonies with Midi and Sundance Families.

He helped wherever and whenever he was needed.

He also loved the outdoors. He provided wild meat for all the elders, family, and friends. He shared his hunting and fishing knowledge of the outdoors as much as he could.

Jeff was employed at Manitou Forest Products for 25 years. He enjoyed teasing his work family.

He loved to play baseball with the Manitou Thunderbirds, and his many baseball brothers across the RRDFL. He took pride in the Thunderbird Memorial Ball Park and took care of the field for both men's and women's teams.

Jeff was instrumental and great help when Manitou hosted the all-star game for the RRDWFL two years.

Jeff had an unforgettable smile and laugh. He was known for his warm bear hugs and numerous selfies. He loved to cook, loved his lawn, and sitting by the rapids or a campfire with friends. You could see Jeff sitting on his deck drinking coffee looking at the river; his favourite place to hang out was at Vince's cabin with the boys.

A traditional service was held on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018 at the Rainy River First Nations Gymnasium, with cremation to follow.

The pallbearers were Vince Allan, Vance Allan, Damien Allan, Moddy Kelly, Jeff Morrison, Robin McGinnis, Don Smith, Jason Wilson, Burt Woods, and Bruce Wilson.

The honourary pallbearers were his siblings and his ball teams, the Manitou Thunderbirds and Manitou T-Birdies.
