A doubleheader was double the fun for Jamie Davis and Ward Imrie on Rea Memorial Weekend at the Emo Speedway.
Davis, who was born in Devlin but now lives in Fort Frances, and Imrie (from Winnipeg) won the features in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and Modifieds divisions both Friday and Saturday at the annual two-day stock car race extravaganza held in conjunction with the Emo Fair.
Davis nabbed the checkered flag ahead of Kevin Monteith of Thunder Bay on Saturday night, with Christopher Leek of St. Anne, Man. finishing third.
It was the division-leading fourth feature win of the season for Davis, who also placed fourth in the Modifieds on Saturday after not finishing Friday night's race in that division.
Davis earned Friday night's win over Cole Chernosky of Thunder Bay, with David Simpson, also of Thunder Bay, nabbing third place.
Despite the pair of victories, Davis still sits in 12th place in the division point standings with 512—516 behind leader Cody Ossachuk of Fort Frances (1,068).
Devlin's Dayton Brady is second (1,049), followed by James Lambert of Fort Frances in third (1,000).
Imrie, meanwhile, took the checkered flag ahead of Brody Strachan on Saturday night while Jerome Guyot of Fannystelle, Man. placed third.
On Friday, he raced to the finish line ahead of Gavin Paull (Fort Frances) and Strachan, with Guyot taking fourth place.
The back-to-back feature wins were the first of the season for Imrie in the Modifieds, who sits 13th in the points standings in that division—799 back of Strachan (1,129), who now has nine top-five finishes this year.
Gary Wilson of Devlin is second (1,003) while Jeff Davis of Devlin sits in third (957).
In the Street Stocks division, Tylar Wilson of Fort Frances raced to his division-best sixth feature win of the season ahead of Tanner Ulakovic of Murillo on Saturday night after finishing second Friday.
David Caruk of Thunder Bay took third while Jeff Wickstrom of International Falls was fourth.
Friday night's race saw Raice Westover of Fort Frances nab his second checkered flag of the season ahead of Wilson, with Ulakovic taking third.
With his impressive weekend, Wilson increased his division point total to 1,089—72 better than Westover (1,017).
Jesse Thompson of Emo isn't far behind in third (1,013).
The division titles will be decided this Saturday at “Fan Appreciation Night,” which is the last time this season for drivers to accrue points.
Hot laps are at 7 p.m., with the first race at 7:30 (weather permitting).
