Dispute leads to charges


On Monday around 11:05 a.m., two members of the Rainy River District OPP were on general patrol on Portage Avenue when they observed two individuals involved in a verbal exchange near a business.

The officers approached the two parties to investigate the matter and one of them subsequently was arrested.

A 30-year-old Couchiching man was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and four counts of failing to comply with a recognizance.

He also was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was being held in custody pending a bail hearing here today.
