Duane Carlson wasn't going to let his squad's season come to an end.
Carlson crushed a walk-off homer in the bottom of the eighth to lift the second-seeded Sight & Sound Wolves into the Rainy River District Fastball League's East Division final with a thrilling 6-5 win over the fourth-seeded Windey's Warriors in the Loser's Side final Tuesday night at VanJura.
With the win, the Wolves earned a shot at redemption against the top-ranked Fort Frances Braves tonight at 6:30 p.m.
The Braves had dumped the Wolves by an 11-3 margin last Thursday, which dropped Sight & Sound to the Loser's Side of the bracket.
It was quite the performance for Carlson on Tuesday night, who homered from both sides of the plate to pace the Wolves' offence.
Jeremiah Windigo, Nick Hunter, and Rob McGinnis all went deep in a losing cause for the Warriors, who saw their season come to an end.
John Desaulniers earned the win while McGinnis was tagged with the loss.
Over in the West Division, Vaughan Wilson clubbed a round-tripper to pace the second-seeded Barwick Blue Knights to a 8-1 romp over the third-seeded Sabaskong Lakers in the Loser's Side final.
Brandan Pratt earned the win for the Knights while James Yerxa was saddled with the season-ending loss for the Lakers.
The Knights now will face the top-ranked Dawson Tigers in the West Division final tonight at 6:30 p.m.
