With one day left to file for the Oct. 22 municipal election, yet more district residents have stepped forward to run as school board trustees and for spots on their respective municipal councils.
John McTaggart is the latest to put his hat in the ring to run for a seat on Fort Frances town council.
He's joined six other candidates who will be vying for one of the six seats on council here. The six include Wendy Brunetta, Harold Huntley, Douglas Judson, Clinton Gray, Andrew Hallikas, and Michael Behan.
Current councillors June Caul and Ken Perry both are vying for the position of mayor.
Meanwhile, Michael Graham, Raymond Roy, David Kircher, Scott Krienke-Turvey, and Peter Howie all recently filed their paperwork to run for the two Fort Frances trustee seats on the Rainy River District School Board (RRDSB).
As well, Anne-Marie Gelineault filed to run as trustee for Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l'Ontario and Debbie Coughlin put in her name to run as trustee for Conseil scolaire de district catholique des Aurores boréales.
In Alberton, Dan DeGagne, Diane Glowasky, Jennifer Johnson, and Peter Spuzak have filed to run for council.
Kathryn Pierroz also filed there to run as trustee for the RRDSB for Alberton-LaVallee.
In Morley, Maria Vandenbrand has filed for council.
Gerald (Gerry) Pasloski is seeking a seat on council in Rainy River.
