Second barn concert set

Category:

The second barn concert of the season at Cornell Farms will be Pat Temple and the HiLO Players on Thursday, July 12 beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Temple is well-known for his “Americana” music, where western swing meets hillbilly jazz.

He is a mainstay on the Canadian music scene, having played at music festivals across the country, as well as at Massey Hall and the National Arts Gallery.

Temple, who got his start as a songwriter while living in Kingston in the early 1980s, now has fans in spots like New Orleans, the U.S. Midwest, and California.

Kim Cornell said Cornell Farms is pleased to be part of Pat Temple and the HiLO Players' cross-Canada tour.

“He has played everywhere across North America and in all sorts of venues,” Cornell noted.

Temple pulls from the very best of the western swing, jump blues, and rockabilly to fuel his fresh and uplifting songs.

With a body of work spanning three decades, his music is recognized for its familiar, infectious, and lasting melodies, as well as his compelling voice.

Paul Caruso from Rainy River will be opening for Temple.

For years, Caruso only played for his own enjoyment but since he retired in 2013, he now is a regular feature at many local musical events, including Rainy River Long Care, North Bay's Castle Home, and every other Friday at the Lakeside Inn in Keewatin.

It is shaping up to be a great night!

Tickets cost $15 in advance, available from the Fort Frances Public Library, Tompkins' Hardware, Cornell Farms, and electronically at Eventbrite.ca, and $20 at the door.
