The Riverside Foundation for Health Care is excited to announce that this year's Canada Day Cash Lottery was able to raise a net profit of almost $18,000!
These profits will go towards the purchase of two portable ultrasound machines for the district.
The big draw took place on July 1 during Fun in the Sun activities at the Point Park in front of a small crowd despite the rainy weather.
The grand-prize winner of $10,000 was Pat Basaraba of Fort Frances.
A longtime supporter of the Foundation, Basaraba has been purchasing tickets for years feeling that it always was a donation to the cause and never thought winning was a possibility.
She looks forward to using the winnings to complete some work on her house and may save some for an upcoming trip.
The winner of $2,000 was Jackie McMahon of Fort Frances.
Deb Cornell of Devlin took home $1,000 while Dave Lindsay, Teresa Hazel, Steve and Johnny Lundon, and Marc Ruppenstein all walked away with $500 each.
The Riverside Foundation for Health Care would like to congratulate the winners and thank everyone who purchased a ticket this year.
The Foundation also is thankful to all of the local businesses that helped sell tickets and for all of the volunteers who help make this raffle a success.
A very special thank you goes out to Manitou Weather Station Fishing Lodge for its generous donation of our early-bird prize.
The next big fundraiser for the Riverside Foundation for Health Care will be its annual fall gala.
“Fiesta Like There's No Manana” will take place Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Memorial Sports Centre auditorium.
