On June 13, the Treaty #3 Police Service requested assistance from the OPP's North West Region Crime Unit regarding a missing 15-year-old female from the community of Mishkosiminiziibiing (Big Grassy River First Nation).
Members of the North West Region Emergency Response Team and a K-9 Unit, as well as North West Region Crime Unit members, attended the community on the afternoon of June 13.
Around 7:45 p.m., the body of a female was located behind the outdoor skating rink on Beach Road.
The victim has been identified as Autumn Andy from Big Grassy First Nation.
Officers with the Treaty #3 Police Service, the North West Region Crime Unit, and Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of Det. Insp. Randy Gaynor of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, are investigating the circumstances surrounding this death.
A post-mortem examination has been completed at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS) in Toronto.
The results are not being made public.
