Category:

Two new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region by yesterday afternoon.

Both are small, and are located in the Sioux Lookout and Dryden districts.

There were eight forest fires in the Northwest Region over the weekend, located in the Fort Frances, Dryden, Kenora, and Thunder Bay districts.

Most of these fires have been declared “out" or are reported as "under control.”

Smoke drift from Manitoba may be visible in the Kenora District.

Rain was in the forecast for today, which was expected to reduce the fire hazard across the region.

Depending on the rain coverage, however, hazards may remain higher in some locations if less rain falls.
