As of Sept. 16, the public can help support Epilepsy Ontario and local epilepsy agencies by making a donation at any of the more than 620 LCBO stores throughout Ontario.
Donation boxes for Epilepsy Ontario will be displayed at LCBO checkout counters until Oct. 13.
Proceeds from the LCBO campaign will help fund programs such as Summerfest Camp, a provincial program that enables children to attend Camp Couchiching while having access to appropriate nursing care.
Epilepsy Ontario will also be sharing a portion of the proceeds with 16 local epilepsy agencies, which provide information, services and support to people with epilepsy across Ontario.
“What a great way to bring epilepsy out into the open!” said Rozalyn Werner-Arcé, executive director of Epilepsy Ontario.
“We are extremely grateful for this opportunity to raise funds and awareness for Epilepsy Ontario,” she added. “It really wouldn’t be possible without all the support we’re getting from the LCBO staff and especially its customers.”
“LCBO is pleased to partner with Epilepsy Ontario and provide support to a variety of worthy causes,” said LCBO president and CEO Bob Peter.
“Generous LCBO customers and staff improve the lives of countless Ontarians and help communities throughout the province,” he added.
Epilepsy Ontario is one of 28 provincial, as well as numerous local charities, that will benefit from LCBO’s province-wide donation box program in 2012.
In 2011, LCBO raised a total of more than $6.2 million for charities through special programs and initiatives, of which $5.7 million was raised through in-store fundraising.
In addition, LCBO’s annual dividend transfer to the Ontario government, which totaled $1.63 billion in fiscal 2011-12, excluding taxes, supports a wide range of important government programs, services and priorities, including health care and education.
Epilepsy Ontario thanks the public for its support when shopping at their local LCBO store from Sept. 16–Oct. 13, 2012.
