Ron MacKinnon and Mark Caron are the new owners of the “Loving Touch Car Wash.”
The business partners purchased the car wash, located on the corner of Second Street East and Mowat Avenue, from Murray and Shelly Wepruk and Steve and Livia Lundon.
Caron, who helped maintain the car wash over the past 10 years, said he learned the owners were looking to sell it but didn’t necessarily want to take on the venture by himself.
MacKinnon approached him in March, asked about the car wash, and they started talking about a partnership.
The partners took ownership as of Aug. 1.
MacKinnon and Caron said regular car wash customers can expect the same service and prices, but added they’ll be making some subtle changes and renovations to the business.
MacKinnon said the change in ownership has been smooth.
“It’s a credit to the previous owners that it was a good transaction, a good transition,” he remarked.
“I wish them well,” Murray Wepruk said Monday, adding the new owners are “a good fit” given that Caron has been the maintenance man at the car wash for years.
Wepruk, who lives on Reef Point Road, said it also makes more sense to have owners who live in town and are able to regularly attend the business.
