Effective Monday, July 30, Northwestern Health Unit services no longer will be offered at 21 Wolsley St. in Kenora.
CEO Mark Perrault is looking forward to welcoming clients at the new address (210 First St. N.) on Tuesday, Aug. 7.
“This move puts us closer to the heart of downtown Kenora, in a more visible and convenient location,” he noted.
“We will be just up the hill from the NHU office located in Market Square, and we hope to offer more streamlined and accessible public health services,” Perrault added.
The following programs and services will be located in the new office (previously known as Mount Carmel School):
- enforcement and environmental health (i.e., food safety, safe water, health hazard management, rabies, tobacco, etc.);
- Part 8 (private sewage disposal);
- chronic disease, injury, and substance misuse prevention (including diabetes prevention and youth action on drugs);
- vaccine depot; and
- finance and administration.
“We will work hard to ensure a seamless transition for clients and partners during the week we are closed,” pledged Perrault.
The services currently offered at the NHU office in Market Square will not be affected by the move, including preventive dental services, “Healthy Babies, Healthy Children,” sexual health services, needle exchange, and immunization.
