At its annual meeting held Sept. 2, the board of directors of the Riverside Foundation for Health Care appointed Deane Cunningham to the position of chairman of the board of directors.
Cunningham has been on the board since 2004 and has acted as vice-chair since 2005. He also headed up the very successful “Just Imagine” campaign in 2006/07 to bring a CT Scanner to Rainy River District.
He replaces Larry Cousineau, who served as chairman for the past three years.
Cousineau has been a member of the board since the Foundation’s inception in 1997, and will stay on to complete his three-year term.
“Larry is a great board member and leader. He is very generous, thoughtful, and committed to our organization and this community,” said Foundation director Teresa Hazel.
“I look forward to working with Deane, as well,” she added. “He has a proven track record for good leadership and we are very fortunate to have him as a dedicated volunteer in our organization.”
Ian McLennan, who has served on the board since 2005, will replace Cunningham as vice-chair.
Gloria Gadd, meanwhile, was officially appointed to the board of directors at the annual meeting after a change to the bylaws was approved to include a representative from the Rainycrest Auxiliary.
“We now have reps from each auxiliary, including Emo, Rainy River, La Verendrye, and Rainycrest,” noted Hazel.
“This goes a long way in ensuring good communications with each other,” she added. “It allows all of us to work together, help each other with events, and stay focused on our overall mission to ensure we have the best health care possible in the Rainy River District.”
Also at the annual meeting, Tammy Kellar, Dan Henderson, and Wendy Judson were re-appointed to the board of directors for three-year terms ending June, 2011.
The next event for the Foundation will be an “Oktoberfest” party on Oct. 4 at the Memorial Sports Centre auditorium.
Tickets are on sale now for $30 each, which are available at the Emo Health Centre, Rainy River Health Centre, Rainycrest, La Verendrye Hospital, 364 Store, and Cousineau Brokers Inc., or by calling 274-4803.
Look for auxiliary fall teas coming in October, as well.
