The popular BIA mid-summer “Mall Day” event, slated for Thursday, June 28, will have a completely new look this year.
For the first time, Scott Street will be kept open to vehicular traffic, with the racks of display merchandise and various displays to be on the sidewalks.
This change, according to BIA chairman Dan Cousineau, is to accommodate the many seniors and others who do not have adequate access to stores when the street is closed to vehicular traffic.
Cousineau added all stores are preparing specially-priced merchandise, and he expects sidewalks to be jammed with shoppers and spectators for this popular event.
The Highlander Pipe Band will be performing at noon and inflatable rides for children will be strategically placed throughout the downtown.
The event will take place the following day (June 29) in case of inclement weather.
