The black-and-gold travelled to Kenora with a depleted lineup Saturday and came home on the short end of a 5-1 decision.
Tara Lloyd (unassisted) tallied the Muskies’ lone goal.
“We went down there short-benched,” noted co-coach Jim McMahon, adding a team from Winnipeg was supposed to play the Broncos but cancelled.
Kenora then called the Muskies for a game and since it was on such short notice, the team went up with less than a full lineup.
“We didn’t have much notice,” said McMahon. “[But] there won’t be too many more games that we go to short-benched.”
McMahon added the team has been working on power plays and penalty killing during practice, as well as some aggressive forechecking.
Their next game is slated tomorrow against St. Thomas Aquinas (Kenora) at the Keewatin arena.
