Al’s bomb Taggs

That was one heck of a welcome back party.
Al’s Racquet Stringing celebrated the return of Laureen Peters to their lineup by annihilating Taggs 13-1 in Borderland Soccer League women’s division action last night.

Peters, who was away for three weeks due to personal commitments, looked like she had never been gone as last year’s league leader in goals notched a pair of markers for Al’s (2-6-1).
But it was Sara Kellar who did the lion’s share of the damage—blasting four goals against the overmatched Taggs’ defence.
Gabrielle Nussbaumer added a hat trick while Claire Crichton scored twice.
Carla Penner added a single to complement the goalkeeping of Jamie Taylor.
Sara Roach had the lone goal for Taggs (4-3) while sharing keeper duties with Suzie Sonnasinh, Jessica Badiuk, and Katie Stearns.
In men’s league action last night, Garnett Cornell netted a pair of goals to pace International Travel Services to a 4-1 triumph over Senior Pharmasave.
Ian Friesen and Cam Gobeil added singles for ITS (5-1-2) while Jim Nussbaumer had the lone tally for Senor Pharmasave (1-6-2).
Action resumes tonight, with Taggs facing the top-ranked La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs U18 squad (4-1-1) on the women’s side.
In men’s play, the Voyageurs U18 team (1-4-2) will go for the upset against first-place Manitou Forest Products (6-1-1).
Both games start at 7 p.m.
