KCs finish fourth in Burnsville

After going undefeated in their first three games, the local KC PeeWee ‘AA’ rep team was shut out in their last two to finish in fourth place at a hockey tournament in Burnsville, Mn. over the weekend.

They had started the tournament on fire, pummelling Northern Colorado 9-1 in their first game Friday afternoon.

Danny McIntyre and Tyler Barker led the way with two goals and an assist apiece while Jamie Davis and Jeremy Bell each added a goal and two assists.

Andrew George, Scott Bridgeman, and Bryan Chambers also scored for the KCs.

They next blanked host Burnsville 5-0 on Friday night. Barker netted a pair of goals in that one while Andrew Mueller, Mike Niskala, and George added singles.

Then the KCs played St. Paul to a wild 5-5 draw Saturday, tying the game with just six seconds to play when Barker tallied a shorthanded marker (his second of the game).

Niskala, Bridgeman, and Chambers also hit the twine.

But it was a different story on Sunday as the KCs lost 5-0 to both Bloomington-Kennedy and then North St. Paul to finish fourth overall.

The team had been hot heading into the tournament, doubling Lake of the Woods 8-4 in an exhibition game the previous Sunday. Davis and Barker both netted hat tricks in that win while George and Bridgeman tallied singles.

The KCs are back in action this weekend at a tournament in Kenora.
