Quiet on fire scene

There remains three active fires in the region—two in Red Lake District and one in Sioux Lookout District.
FireRangers in the Fort Frances District yesterday were responding to a possible fire report about 25 km southeast of Atikokan.

It has not yet been confirmed.
There is a “high” to “extreme” fire hazard in the far north, and “moderate” to “high” hazards in areas east of Lake Nipigon.
The fire hazard is “low” to “moderate” in the southwest.
Rain is in the forecast and if it tracks across the region as expected, the fire hazard will drop.
Until this occurs, however, there is a risk of new fire starts.
