Summer rec program in full swing

Emo Rec Council’s summer recreation program is in full swing with the hiring of Anthony Labbe and Tara Lloyd for a five-week period.

If anyone has a question about the program, call 482-2378.

In other news, the rec council has framed a plan of the proposed sports field to be located directly north of the Emo Cemetery. If you wish to view the design, stop by Gillons’ Insurance or the municipal office.

Your comments and ideas are important to get this project off the ground.

Meanwhile, The Little House on Front Street (next to the former post office) is available to non-profit groups for fundraising or special events. Contact the municipal office at 482-2378 for arrangements.

Dog owners are reminded you are required to purchase dog tags on an annual basis. If you don’t have a licence, drop by the municipal office as soon as possible.

Dog tags cost $10, which will be included in your next water-sewer statement for the urban area and mailing invoices to the rural ones.

Also coming to Emo this summer is CWF Extreme Wrestling. It will be held Friday, Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m., with the doors opening at 6:30.

The event also will feature a grudge match between Emo Reeve Russ “The Terminator” Fortier and Fort Frances Mayor Glenn “The Amalgamator” Witherspoon, as well as Emo-born Dean “Madman” Martin.

Tickets are available at Village Variety, Tompkins Hardware, Corner Closet, and the Fairway Store in Emo, Witherspoon’s One Stop in Fort Frances, Dev-Lynne’s in Devlin, Roseberry Runway in Barwick, KGB Sports in Rainy River, and Nestor Falls Marine in Nestor Falls.

Tickets cost $15 Cdn. ($10 U.S.) for ringside seats or $7 Cdn. ($5 U.S.) for rush advance. They will cost $10 Cdn. ($7 U.S.) at the door.
