Manager of International Travel Services here for the past four years, Pat Herr recently became its new owner after buying the business from Dr. Robert and Margaret Lidkea and George and Bev Mylenchuk.
“Officially, the deal was done on May 7 but it only got through the banks and the lawyers about two weeks ago,” she noted last Thursday.
“As we approach retirement, we’ve been looking to unload some things,” said Dr. Lidkea. “We thought it was a time to sell.”
And nobody would have been better for the job, he added.
“She had done a great job expanding the business and the staff,” Dr. Lidkea said. “We had sat back and let her make a lot of the decisions in the past, and she always made the right ones.”
“There’s no doubt in my mind that she’ll carry on and do an excellent job serving her clients,” echoed Bev Mylenchuk.
“It’s always been my dream to own my own travel agency,” enthused Herr, who’s been with ITS for 13 years. “I wanted to buy and they wanted to sell.”
And she isn’t worried about the increased responsibility of ownership.
“I’ve been managing the agency since 1994. I know what I’m doing so nothing should be that different for me,” noted Herr. “I am looking forward to the challenge of it, though.”
As for what lies ahead, Herr said the business should remain the same as it always was.
“I don’t think there’ll be any changes,” she said. “We’ll still be providing great service.”
