Two killed by train

ST-LIBOIRE, Que.—Quebec provincial police say a man in his 40s and a one-year-old child are dead after their car was struck by a Via Rail passenger train at a level crossing early this morning.
The incident took place in St-Liboire, south of Montreal, around 7:10 a.m.

Police say the car was cut in two.
It is not yet clear whether the man who died was the child’s father.
A Via spokesman said the barriers were down at the crossing and that the lights were flashing.
A police spokeswoman said authorities are not ruling out the possibility the driver deliberately positioned his car at the crossing.
