Wolves stay perfect

The ranks of perfection in the Rainy River District Fastball League has been whittled down to two.
The Fort Frances-based Sight & Sound Wolves improved to 4-0 with an 11-6 win over the visiting Sabaskong Lakers last night.

Marcel Pagee not only pitched his team to victory but tacked on a home run to help his cause.
Duane Carlson also went deep for the Wolves.
Sight & Sound remains tied atop the standings with the two-time defending champion Big Grassy Braves, who routed the host Stratton Eagles 25-2 last night.
But the previously-unbeaten Sabaskong Cubs fell out of top spot with a 9-4 loss to the Couchiching Raiders (1-2-1).
Meanwhile, Couchiching-based Beef’s Warriors (3-0-1) kept its loss column clean with a 14-4 win over the visiting Northwest Bay Chieftains.
Other action last night saw the host Barwick Blue Knights hammer the Dawson Tigers 12-2 while the Big Island Huskies rolled to a 14-8 win over the host Manitou Thunderbirds.
League play resumes Tuesday (weather permitting) with Sight & Sound in Northwest Bay, Couchiching hosting Big Island, and Beef’s Warriors visiting Barwick.
Manitou will be at Big Grassy, the Sabaskong Lakers will host Stratton, and the Sabaskong Cubs will visit Dawson.
All games get underway at 7 p.m.
