Four people died in a fiery collision Saturday evening when two pick-up trucks collided head-on on Highway 17 about 30 km west of Kenora.
The two vehicles were heading in opposite directions around 8:20 p.m. when the accident happened near Rush Bay Road. The severity of the collision caused a fire which engulfed both vehicles.
Four people, two in each truck, were killed. The names of the victims still were being withheld this morning until next-of-kin have been notified, police said.
An OPP technical traffic accident investigator attended the scene, and the investigation is continuing.
Police had to close Highway 17 for about six hours to conduct the investigation and clear the scene.
