The local Tagg’s ‘AA’ Bantam rep team won its first game at the Robin’s Classic hockey tournament in Thunder Bay this morning, downing the Winnipeg Major Marauders 4-1.
Dan McIntyre opened the scoring for Tagg’s late in the first, then they added three more in the third from Jamie Davis, Shaun Egan, and Tanner Kaemingh to ice the victory.
The Marauders spoiled Jason Green’s shutout bid with their lone goal late in the game.
Tagg’s played the South End Rangers (Thunder Bay) this afternoon in the second of their three pool games (the outcome was not known at press time).
They’ll wrap up pool play against the Thunder Bay Maroons tomorrow morning, with the top six teams in the 12-team field moving to the ‘A’ side.
The bottom six go to the ‘B’ side.
Tagg’s has not played a tournament in three weeks, coming off an ‘A’ final loss to Warroad in Roseau on Jan. 13.
