The Muskie girls’ hockey team went winless at the annual Early Bird Scrimmage Fest in Warroad, Mn. last weekend.
The black-and-gold fell 3-1 to Roseau, 5-1 to host Warroad, and 4-2 to Thief River Falls.
Carrie Johnson led the Muskie scorers with two goals and one assist, with Stephanie Strachan and Shannon Koval netting the team’s other goals.
Tara Lloyd picked up the other assist. Megan Bob, Kim Fowler, and Kim Pacarenuk each played a game in goal.
Despite coming home empty-handed, head coach Pat Dittaro was happy with what he saw. “It was a good learning experience,” he said. “There’s some things we have to work on.”
Dittaro said the team will finalize its exhibition schedule by the end of the week.
In related news, the defending OFSAA ‘A/AA’ gold medal-winning Muskie boys’ hockey team officially began on-ice practising last week in preparation for a pre-season tournament Nov. 16-17 in Warroad.
The NorWOSSA regular season gets underway Tuesday, Nov. 20 up in Kenora against the Broncos.
