While there isn’t any snow on the ground yet, it will start to look a lot like the holiday season at the Clover Valley Farmers’ Market when “The Christmas Store” opens there tomorrow morning.
Donna Lowey, who runs the store with her husband, Blair, said it’s now in its 10th year at the McIrvine Road location. “Everybody that comes here says it seems like it marks the start of Christmas,” she noted.
Lowey added the store is ready for shoppers with a market full of vendors and merchandise. “We have our regulars, but every year you see some people go and some others come in,” she said.
“It’s a kind of combination of locally-made gifts, and some lines of collectibles that you can’t get anywhere else in town,” noted Lowey.
“It’s geared more toward gifts,” she continued. “We do have some baked goods and other foods, though, like Iris Gogosha’s cabbage rolls and perogies—food that’s right for Christmas.”
Lowey also said she was anticipating a busy season despite the lack of white stuff. “Saturdays are always busy. But it’s steady right up until Christmas,” she remarked.
The store will be open every day until Dec. 24. Its hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 10 .m.-8 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
