Church holds Thanksgiving service

A Thanksgiving service was held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo. Jack Wielinga led in the service and Jack Esselink in the praise part.

Selections included “We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise” and “Praise and Thanksgiving.”

Pianist Chris Hellinga and organist Diane Hwerema then led the congregation in several hymns.

The ermon topic was on Thanksgiving. Daniel Hettinga and Thenke Van Rozen gave choral readings while Wilma Esselink did the scripture reading take from Psalm 107: Verses 1-22.

An offering was taken up for CRWRC’s Free-A-Family program. Each gift -establishes community self-help programs for poor families.

This is not about giving a handout. This is about supplying the tools to enable families to work toward providing adequate food, income, and health care for themselves.

It is changing lives. As little as $16 a month is enough for a family to begin to make these changes.

After the service, a pie social followed in the Fellowship Hall.
