Nomination forms for the annual Chamber of Commerce business awards still are not available because several award sponsors have not been confirmed yet.
Chamber co-ordinator Dawn Booth said Monday morning she’ll be contacting those sponsors today to try and firm up whether the categories in question will be part of this year’s awards.
But she added the fact the nomination forms will be going out a couple of weeks later than expected means the banquet—slated for Saturday, March 23—may be postponed.
This decision will be made during a special meeting later this week.
Booth previously noted the nomination forms for the seventh-annual awards would be made available as soon as all the award sponsorships were confirmed.
She also encouraged the public to nominate exemplary individuals and businesses.
Categories with confirmed sponsors include Entrepreneur of the Year, Business of the Year (1-15 employees and 16+ employees), Safety (individual and business), and one of the two categories in each of the Employee of the Year and Customer Service awards.
Booth noted nominees can be from anywhere in the district, not just Fort Frances, and individuals and businesses can nominate themselves.
They do not have to be Chamber members.
“It’s an excellent evening. It’s a good chance for people to recognize the work done by businesses in the community,” said Booth.
“It gives businesses a chance to pat themselves on the back for an evening. And we encourage that.”
