The garage sale season will kick off tomorrow with a monster garage sale for the local community youth centre.
“We have computers that are older but cool, old hockey memorabilia like a Gordie Howe helmet, leather gloves, hockey jersey,” centre co-ordinator Darcy Neufeld said.
“People have brought in snowshoes, video games, and lots of cookware,” he noted.
The sale will be held at the centre (located at 616 Mowat Ave. next to the old high school) from 8 a.m. until noon, with volunteers selling items donated by the public.
“We had a pretty good response but we’re still looking for more stuff,” said Neufeld. “If people have items they’d like to donate that would really help.”
Anyone interested in donating items can drop them off at the youth centre, or call 274-0561 or 274-8541.
Those who may like to have their own garage sale as part of the event also can rent a table for $20.
Proceeds will go towards the youth centre to purchase materials, host workshops, and fund trips for local youths.
Neufeld said he was glad to see so many people already take part in this event.
“It’s always good to see the community take part in these kinds of events,” he said. “It’s a good way to connect to youth.”
