The Muskie badminton program enjoyed strong results at the NorWOSSA qualifier held yesterday at Fort High, with 11 members advancing to the league finals next Wednesday in Kenora.
In the junior girls’ singles division, Muskie Heidi Emond took first place while teammate Shawnee Morriseau finished third.
Meanwhile, Brooke Paterson and Lindsay Johnson punched their ticket to Kenora courtesy of a third-place finish in the junior girls’ doubles division.
In seniors’ action, Muskie John McCormack ran the table—going undefeated in boys’ singles play.
McCormack’s accomplishment was matched by Tim Desjardins and Jamie Jensen, who finished first in boys’ doubles to advance to next week’s finals.
And Sandi Elliot and Britanny Shine were the class of the girls’ singles division, finishing first and second, respectively.
The Muskie contingent competing at NorWOSSA will be rounded out by Travis Stromness and Tina Caul, who finished third in the mixed doubles division.
Some 110 players from five schools (Fort High, RRHS, Atikokan High School, Ignace, and Whitefish Bay) competed in 160 matches to determine who would advance to the NorWOSSA finals.
