Anyone wondering, “Can I still get a ticket for this year’s ‘Quest for the Best’ on Wednesday night?” should stop calling the Chamber of Commerce office and just go on down and get one, organizer Dawn Booth said late Monday.
Tickets can be bought at the Chamber office (across from Safeway on Scott Street) between 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
“There’s actually quite a few tickets left,” said Booth, adding it’s likely tickets also will be available at the door at the Sorting Gap Marina, where the popular singing contest will get underway at 7 p.m. under the big tent.
“But if people are smart, they might as well save themselves the $3 and get them in advance,” noted Booth, referring to the cost of $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
She also said one of the reasons why there hasn’t been a rush for the normally sold-out event is that people don’t seem to realize it’s coming up tomorrow night.
But regardless if it draws a sold-out crowd like last year, Booth said she’s thrilled to see “Quest” being held in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship for the third time.
“I think its going to be another awesome event, with a variety of songs and performers,” she said, adding the event—which could run until midnight—is well worth the price of admission.
This year’s 18 contestants, who will be backed up by local band “The Faculty,” include:
•Marie and Leona Grandbois—“Honey, I’m Home” (Shania Twain);
•Courtney Jourdain—“Purple Rain” (LeAnn Rimes’ version);
•Kristina Bombay—“You Win My Love” (Shania Twain);
•Christina Sletmoen—“Last Dance” (Donna Summers);
•Charles Fisher—“New Orleans is Sinking” (Tragically Hip);
