Local band eager to open for Wide Mouth Mason

Category:

Local band Thinking of Pinky is set to open for Wide Mouth Mason tonight with an hour-long set that will include one original tune, “Might as Well.”

“It’s a catchy little throw together,” drummer Eric Carpenter said of the song.

The quartet, comprised of twentysomethings, is looking forward to opening for Wide Mouth Mason.

“We’re happy as hell to be opening for Wide Mouth Mason—a kick-ass Canadian band,” guitarist Dan Jones said. “To have such a high-calibre act coming to Fort Frances is great.”

The band’s home bar is the Rainy Lake Hotel.

“Larry [Syrovy] has always been good to us. He’s been supporting us since before we could play,” joked Carpenter.

Each member has a history of playing in a number of bands. Some of these bands had their own success and followings, but it was time for something different.

They wanted to get a band together that could please any kind of audience, be it old or young. They feel they’ve accomplished this—and more—because they thrive on their audiences.

Versatility is one thing you’ll always get with Thinking of Pinky, with all four members taking turns on vocals.

The other two members of the band are Cliff Pidlubny (guitar) and Ryan Storkson (bass).

Thinking of Pinky also will be playing as the back-up band during the “Grandstand Jam” at the Emo Fair next month as well performing in their own right there, too.
