Wrong target

Dear editor:

At last fall’s Liberal leadership convention, they turned their attention to one of their pet peeves: gun control.

Resolution 47 was drafted that, among other things, called for the prohibition of semi-automatic firearms. That’s right. Not even restricted but prohibited!

Presumably, this legislation would be administered by their financial lame duck—the gun registry.

There are 280,000 registered semi-automatic shotguns in Canada. These guns are used by honest citizens of Canada. They are used for bird-hunting and clay targets.

Prohibition of these would be very unfair and very unnecessary.

Finally, are the Liberals so naive as to think that criminals would turn in their guns! Why not address the concern to get tougher on criminals rather than the honest Canadian.
