Silver for short-track speedskaters

SOCHI, Russia—Canada has won silver in the women’s 3,000-metre relay short-track speedskating event at the Sochi Olympics.
South Korea won gold in four minutes, 9.498 seconds.

China came in second but was disqualified because its skaters did not immediately leave the track after passing off to their teammates.
That bumped the Canadian team of Marie-Eve Drolet, Jessica Hewitt, Valerie Maltais, and Marianne St-Gelais up from third place.
Canada’s final time was 4:10.641.
Italy finished well back of the top three teams after one of its skaters fell, but earned a bronze medal after China’s penalty.
The Italians finished in 4:14.014.
Meanwhile, yhree Canadians have qualified for the men’s ski halfpipe final at the Sochi Olympics.
Justin Dorey of Vernon, B.C. had the top score of 91.60 points after two qualification runs in snowy conditions at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park.
Mike Riddle, of Sherwood Park, Alta., and Noah Bowman of Calgary will join their teammate in the 12-man final round later today.
And defending Olympic champs Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse are in second place after two runs of the women’s bobsled.
Calgary’s Humphries and Moyse, of Summerside, P.E.I., sit 0.23 seconds behind leaders Elana Meyers and Lauryn Williams of the U.S.
The Canadian pair entered the event as gold favourites after winning three World Cup events this season.
