Less than a month ago, on Sept. 3, the Citizens for Backus/AB assumed ownership of the Backus/AB complex in International Falls. Since that time, many exciting things have been happening with the help of community volunteers—some coming from as far away as Blackduck.
Since Sept. 3, we have had a very successful fundraiser. With the help of Allied Concert Service, we were able to present “Marcoux Corner,” a very talented and entertaining a cappella quartet.
Since Sept. 3, we have hired a part-time director and a full-time custodian. We have acquired—through donations—two computers and a copy machine. The first floor of Backus and the third floor of the AB building have been cleaned by volunteers, and the Backus hall floors are being waxed and buffed, also by a volunteer.
Now even though all of these things are wonderful in themselves, we are looking forward to many more things in the future, including more concerts before the end of the year.
