It still isn’t certain yet whether a Tim Horton’s outlet will open its doors here—at least anytime soon.
“There’s nothing on our construction list yet,” said Greg Skinner, corporate communications officer with TDL Group Ltd., which operates Tim Horton’s.
“I guess they’re waiting until the end of winter to do anything,” he added. “It sounds like there is still interest, but as to how long it will be before we see anything—it could be spring, it could be later.”
Back in August, representatives said Tim Horton’s definitely was coming to Fort Frances, but that they were looking for a location and a franchisee to operate it.
At that time, it was speculated the outlet would be built on the corner of King’s Highway and Elm Avenue across from Subway.
Skinner noted that, as far as he knows, the same site still is being looked at, but also said Monday there’s been no word on acquiring that land for the franchise.
“A site hasn’t been selected and there is nothing on the construction report,” he remarked.
Skinner added while they may have a candidate in mind to run the local restaurant, he couldn’t reveal if a franchisee had been confirmed yet.
“We don’t release that until a store is being built. Construction usually takes about three months,” he said.
Currently, about 200 Tim Horton’s restaurants are built in Canada every year.
