Business awards gala date set

The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce has set the date for the 18th-annual Rainy River District Business Awards gala, and now is asking for people to start thinking about businesses they’d like to nominate.
The gala will take place Thursday, March 6 at La Place Rendez-Vous, said Samantha Manty, business and events development assistant intern for the Chamber.

Some details, such as the menu, still are being finalized but organizers have lined up Fort Frances-born comedian Ryan McMahon for the evening’s entertainment.
Tickets will go on sale in February.
“It’s always a well-attended event and it’s a lot of fun,” enthused Manty.
“We’re hoping to really go for the gala feel, and have people go out and have a wonderful evening and celebrate all the wonderful things that people do in the community,” she added.
Nomination forms won’t be available for a couple of weeks, but nearly all award sponsors have been confirmed.
As well, it’s never too early to start thinking about businesses deserving of recognition, noted Manty.
“We’d like to encourage people to start thinking about people they’d like to nominate in the community,” she remarked.
“We have a lot of great businesses and individuals who work hard to contribute to the economic growth of Fort Frances and the Rainy River District, so we should recognize these individuals,” Manty said.
“They deserve it.”
The award categories include:
•Business of the Year;
•Employee of the Year;
•Business Woman of the Year;
•Entrepreneur of the Year;
•Home-based Business;
•Customer Service Award (Business);
•Customer Service Award (Individual);
•Small Business Trainer of the Year; and
•Tony Beyak Memorial Volunteer of the Year.
