Court teams split

It was an up-and-down day for the four Muskie court teams yesterday in Dryden.
The junior boys’ basketball team improved their NorWOSSA record to 5-0 with a 43-38 victory over the Eagles (0-4).

But the senior Muskies (3-2) couldn’t pull out an overtime thriller against the host Eagles (3-1), falling by a 74-72 count.
Top scorers in both games were unavailable by press time.
In girls’ volleyball action, the junior Muskies (4-1) beat the Eagles (2-2) by a 3-1 count (15-25, 25-11, 25-18, and 25-20).
“Today’s game was a slow start but a great finish,” noted Fort High co-coach Alyssa Holliday.
The juniors were coming off a championship victory at the Winter Blast Junior Kenora Invitational tournament at Beaver Brae over the weekend.
The senior Muskies (2-3), meanwhile, had much more difficulty with Dryden (4-0), which rolled to a 3-0 victory (set scores were unavailable by press time).
The court squads now will take a break for exams.
The junior boys then head to Kenora for a tournament Jan. 24.
All four teams resume NorWOSSA action Jan. 30 in Kenora against the Broncos.
