The Muskie boys’ curling team will be out to shed its middle-of-the-pack image when it opens play Wednesday morning at the all-Ontario curling showdown in St. Thomas.
In the pre-tournament rankings released last week by OFSAA, the Muskie team of skip Adam Bolen, third Brendon Loney, second Jason Pattison, and leads Joey Wensley and David Kaun sit 12th out of the 20 squads.
The Muskies are in Pool ‘D’ along with Markville Secondary School from Markham (#4), Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School from Bracebridge (#5), Ancaster High School (#13), and Erindale Secondary School from Mississauga (#17).
White Oaks Secondary School from Oakville goes into play as the top-ranked squad, followed by Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School (Peterborough) and Centennial College Vocational Institute (Guelph).
The Muskies will open round-robin play against Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes at 10 a.m. (CST) on Wednesday, followed by a match-up with Ancaster at 1:30 p.m.
On Thursday, they take on Markville at 8:30 a.m. and then finish pool play against Erindale at 12:30 p.m.
The quarter-finals are set for later Thursday, with the semi-finals and final slated Friday.
