A new website is providing an online home to Koochiching Aging Options across the river.
The site, a source for news and information on aging issues, will act as a local guide to resources for older adults and those who care for them.
Koochiching Aging Options, a non-profit charitable organization formed in 2009, is dedicated to exploring options and finding solutions to issues of aging for individuals and the broader Koochiching County community.
“We are excited to bring this tool to Koochiching County,” said Douglas Skrief, executive director of Koochiching Aging Options.
“While not all of our residents are connected to the Internet, the number is growing,” he noted. “We want to help those who are looking for resources online.
“At the same time, the site acts as a resource for those who are providing services to our friends and neighbours,” Skrief added.
The site includes a program guide and a comprehensive resource list, as well as links to a news blog and a Facebook page.
Skrief encouraged those with events that are of benefit to older citizens to submit them for placement on the site’s calendar of events.
“The Internet is rich with resources for elders,” he remarked.
“Our goal was to create an easy-to-update, easy-to-navigate, easy-to-read local site that would lead visitors to services and information they need.”
