Three of the four victims of a fatal accident that occurred last month on Highway 17 just east of the junction with Highway 71 have been identified.
The victims were identified as Troy Lansall, 35, of Winnipeg, Man., Balinder Chandi, 30, of Brampton, Ont., and Dilbag Singh, 48, of Montreal, Que., Kenora OPP reported yesterday.
The remains of the fourth person killed in the crash have not been identified yet, police added.
The crash occurred shortly after 1 a.m. on May 20 when two transports—one eastbound and the other westbound—collided in the eastbound lane at highway speed.
A second eastbound truck became involved in the collision while a second westbound truck struck a rock cut while trying to avoid the accident.
The first two trucks exploded into flames, police noted.
Lansall was the driver and sole occupant of the first eastbound truck. The other three deceased all were in the first westbound truck, police added.
The driver and passenger of the second eastbound vehicle both were taken to hospital suffering from very serious injuries while the driver and passenger of the second westbound vehicle were both unhurt, police said.
