Wolves finish 5-2 at worlds
The Sight and Sound Wolves had a busy weekend in the heartland of America and showed plenty of heart during their stay.
The Wolves, which added several all-stars from their rivals in the Rainy River District Fastball League (RRDFL) for their trip, finished with a record of 5-2 at the North American Fastpitch Association World Series in Des Moines, IA this past weekend.
But the Canadian crew rediscovered their form on Friday, defeating Sheddy’s from Wisconsin before smacking Belleville, ON by an 8-2 count. That was followed by victories over Winnipeg and the Bee Bombers on Saturday to put Sight and Sound into the consolation final.
But the Wolves had their five-game winning streak snapped by Northwest Implement with the consolation title on the line. Scores from Sight and Sound’s other games were unavailable as of press time today.
Sight and Sound was back to its regular roster for a loser-go-home ‘B’ Side playoff matchup with the Rainy River Royals last night at VanJura Field. No score was available as of press time today.
The RRDFL playoffs continue tonight with a quartet of contests.
The top-ranked Big Grassy Braves host Big Island, while Beef’s Warriors entertain Barwick in a pair of ‘A’-Side matchups.
Meanwhile, there is no room for error when Dawson visits Stratton and Big Island travels to the winner of last night’s Wolves/Royals game in the ‘B’ Side playoffs.
All games are set to get underway at 6:30 p.m.
