Meanwhile, those who came by the East End Hall on Saturday for a family fun day cast their votes—and deemed the sculpture made by the Fort Frances Times’ team as the “Fan Favourite.”
The sculpture of an ice
fisherman, called “Fishing Fantasy: The Catch of a Lifetime,” earned them $25 worth of Chamber dollars donated by the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce.
A third impressive sculpture, “Totemly Awesome,” was made by the Manty and Marusyk families.
This year’s theme was “Our Community.”
Organizers were pleased with the turnout Saturday as families showed up to admire the snow sculptures, play games, and help paint a snow cube.
They also enjoyed hotdogs and refreshments served up by the “Friends of the Museum” and From the Grind Up.

After nearly a week of participants sculpting snow near the former Huffman School, the “Snoasis” community event wrapped over the weekend, with “Building Bridges” by Lindsay Hamilton and Joe Galbraith earning “Judges’ Choice.”
Event organizer Samantha Manty said the race was “extremely close” between all three entries but in the end, Hamilton and Galbraith won a $75 gift certificate from Boston Pizza.
