Four vying for council vacancy

Four individuals submitted applications to be considered for the vacant seat on town council prior to the Feb. 28 deadline.
Clerk Glenn Treftlin said he officially will inform council of the applicants at its March 11 meeting.

At that point, council will provide direction as to what it will do next, such as when it will review the applications, conducts interviews, and make a decision.
Under the Municipal Act, council has until March 29 to appoint a new councillor.
Given the final regular council meeting of the month falls on March 25, it’s quite possible council will make announce its decision at that time, Treftlin noted.
Treftlin said the identity of the applicants will not be revealed at this time without any direction from council.
Council is seeking to fill the vacancy left by the late Sharon Tibbs.
