Two applicants so far for council

With the application deadline coming up this Thursday (Feb. 28), the Town of Fort Frances has seen serious interest from two individuals seeking appointment to council to fill the vacancy left by the late Sharon Tibbs.
Clerk Glenn Treftlin confirmed this afternoon that two applications have been returned so far, with the most recent being earlier today.

And more could be on the way, as multiple applications have been picked up over the past few weeks.
“I do know of at least three others that have shown some interest,” noted Treftlin.
Applications must be turned in to the clerk’s office no later than 4:30 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 28).
That includes a cover letter stating why the applicant should be considered for the position, as well as a résumé and a statement of qualification to hold the office.
Candidates also must be willing to attend an interview with council.
Council will decide which candidates will be considered for an interview and those people will be contacted.
Council must appoint a candidate by March 29, as per the Municipal Act.
