The Muskie boys’ hockey team cruised to a 7-2 win over the Dryden Eagles in NorWOSSA action here Friday night in a game originally scheduled back in November but cancelled due to the weather.
“Overall it was a better effort then we had on Tuesday in Dryden,” noted Muskie head coach Shane Bliss, referring to the black-and-gold’s 4-2 victory over the host Eagles.
“[But] we continue to make costly mistakes that will be even more harmful come OFSAA,” Bliss warned. “We have to do a better job at getting the puck out of our zone.
“Some of these errors may have been from mental fatigue from a long tough stretch of hockey,” he acknowledged.
The Muskies opened scoring in the first period on goals by Brian White (Tyler Miller/Tyson Romyn), Romyn (Miller, White), and Ryan Witherspoon (Andrew Easton/Riley Caul).
The black-and-gold then made it 5-0 in the second after Miller (Romyn/White) and Jake Esselink (Miller) hit the twine.
After the Eagles netted one to make it 5-1, White (Romyn) added another late in the second.
Dryden scored midway though the third before Kevin Bobczynski (Josh Sigurdson) rounded out the scoring.
The Muskies return to action with a pair of exhibition road games against Bagley, Mn. this Friday (Jan. 27) and then Red Lake Falls, Mn. the following night.
