Diabetes Footcare Nurse
Summary of Position:
The Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre is currently accepting applications for a full time Diabetes Footcare Nurse. This position is a permanent, full-time position. The Diabetes Footcare Nurse will act as part of the clinical team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will require the provision of Diabetic footcare services, as well as education and health promotion teaching around the management of Diabetes. The Diabetes Footcare Nurse will work as part of the Diabetes team, assisting patients with Diabetes with self-management and proper footcare. Other duties include community based footcare clinics and
teaching, statistical reporting, consultation with other health care providers, and facilitate referrals to Chiropodist or other Orthopedic specialist, as required.
• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Certification in Advanced Footcare
• Current Ontario RPN License
• Good standing with the College of Nurses
• Valid Drivers License
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work as a team member
• 2-3 years clinic and footcare nursing experience
• Fluency in the Ojibwe language a definite asset
• Prior experience working with aboriginal people
• Current CPR certification
