JOYCE EVELYN HOUSE

Joyce Evelyn House, 65, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013.

Joyce was born Oct. 19, 1947 in Arbor Vitae, Ont. to Svea and Yngve Anderson.

She was ill as a young child, overcoming a childhood illness that left her with epilepsy.

She moved to Calgary, Alta. as a young woman, working at Foothill Hospital in the Dietary Department. She spoke fondly of her time there.

Joyce was united in marriage to Randy House on Nov. 19, 1973 and they would have celebrated their 40th anniversary next month.

They returned to Fort Frances to raise their family.

Joyce stayed home, doting on her children; always making sure there was a meal on the table and an ear to listen. During the summer, she lived in her garden, pickling all of her produce.

As the children grew up and moved on, she enjoyed travelling with Randy. A favourite trip was to Graceland and then to Tupelo, Miss. to see the birthplace of Elvis.

Joyce was blessed with nine grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with each of them, and was looking forward to meeting her new granddaughter this winter.

Joyce had a very generous heart and supported many charities and causes. She never turned away a campaigner looking for support.

She also enjoyed Bingo, crosswords, scratch tickets, flipping through her gossip magazines, and watching Nancy Grace.

Joyce leaves behind her husband, Randy; children, Laura (Jason) of Sudbury, Ont., Kevin (Laura) of Fort Frances, Ont., and Susan (Bill) of Blackhawk, Ont.; and grandchildren, Svea, Alexia, Jena, Randy, Fiona, Georgia, Irelynn, Lucas, and Forde.

Also surviving are her sister, June Anderson; brother, Glen (Lily) Anderson; nieces and nephews, Shane, Donnie, Dannie, Sarah, and Emily; as well as Randy’s family.

Joyce was predeceased by her father, Yngve, and mother, Svea; and son, Randy.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland, Ont., with Pastor Carolyn Kreger officiating.

Interment will take place in Bergland Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Daniel, Donald, Sarah, and Emily Anderson, Ray Calder Jr., and Lee Hyatt.

If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to Epilepsy Canada, 10 Milner Business Court, 3rd Floor, Scarborough, Ont., M1B 3C6.
