It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Alexander Snider on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, surrounded by his family, as the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in Thunder Bay, Ont. at the age of 74.
He was predeceased by his parents, Dora May and Roy Staton Snider; sisters, Mildren Zolub, Louise Grant, Cathy Snider, and baby sister at birth; sister-in-law, Rose Snider; and brothers, Patrick Snider, Doug Snider, Lyle Snider, and baby James at six months of age.
Billy will be lovingly remembered and forever cherished by his sister, Beverly (John) Falloon; sisters-in-law Linda Snider and Joan Snider; brothers, Bob Snider and Ralph (Judy) Snider; and brothers-in-law, Nick Zolub and Tommy Leishmen.
Although Billy never married or had children of his own, he had a very special bond with his nieces and nephews, and his great-nieces and nephews.
Billy was born Feb. 11, 1939 in Fort Frances, Ont. and lived his entire life there. He enjoyed travelling and exploring new places with his family, and also was an avid Bingo player.
Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
Billy easily made many life-long friends, who he would do anything for. He was a kind, generous man who enjoyed joking with everyone.
A service to celebrate Billy’s life will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church (1027 King’s Highway).
A luncheon will follow after the service in the church basement.
Interment will take place at a later date with his family.
The honourary pallbearers will be Billy’s special friend, Dennis Beere; nephews, John Falloon Jr., Rick Falloon, Tim Snider, and Chris Snider; and great-nephews, James Falloon, Kayle Falloon, Matt Falloon, and Daniel Andy.
If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
