It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Dora Kolomy (nee Chorney), with family by her side, on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 at her residence at the Grandview Nursing Home in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Dora was born in Drobot, Sask. on Dec. 3, 1919. At an early age, her family moved to Fort Frances, Ont., where she grew up.
During World War II, she worked in different parts of Canada at various factories before settling in Port Arthur, Ont. She worked at Bryd’s Restaurant, where she first met her husband, John.
They were married July 19, 1952 and had two children, Debra-Lynn and Paul.
John and Dora spent many memorable summers enjoying their summer camp on Rainy Lake and spending time with friends and relatives in Fort Frances. She was a member of the St. Anna’s Club in Fort Frances.
Dora’s main interests were her family and her grandson, Kody, whom she cherished.
Mom loved to cook, bake, and feed anyone who came throught the door. Mom also had a great green thumb, and spent many hours on her flower beds and garden.
Dora was predeceased by her husband, John; grandson, Kyle Kolomy; parents, Thomas and Oksana Chorney; sister, Mary; and brothers, John, George, Bill, and Alex.
She also was predeceased by her best friends, Stella Didura and Edna Johnsen.

She also is survived by her cousin and lifelong friend, Sadie Kowalchuk.
