William Keith Smith, 76, formerly of 340 Third St. W., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances.
Keith was born in Fort Frances to William “Bill” and Jean (nee Matheson) Smith.
He resided in Fort Frances at the family home his entire life before retiring to Rainycrest.
Keith worked at the Coca-Cola bottling factory for many years in Fort Frances, as well as the Stedman’s store, before retiring in the mid-1980s.
He had a quiet personality, and loved spending time with family and his friends. He often would join friends uptown for coffee on a regular basis.
He also enjoyed travelling to see family and friends, and had a great passion for sports, especially the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and local bowling.
As well, Keith loved fresh tomatoes and took great pride in growing them in his garden.
Keith will be greatly missed by his sisters, Faye Gasparini of Fort Frances, Ont. and Barbara Ballan of Port Alberni, B.C.; and his brother, Graham (Randy) of Fort Frances, Ont.
Keith also is survived by his nieces and nephews, Steve (Tina) Gasparini, Chris (Cindy) Gasparini, Lisa Teeple, Guy Ballan, Donnie (Lori) Ballan, and Kim Ballan; his uncle, Robert (Rita) Matheson; and cousins, Janine (Marc) Stallings and Peter (Mryna) Martin, and special cousin, Geraldine Kelly, and their families.
Keith was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Jean; brothers-in-law, Lino Gasparini and Vic Ballan; and his extended family, Gary Teeple and Thomas Kelly.
A graveside service will be held Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
